The UC Health Ice Rink, presented by Fifth Third Bank is an outdoor ice rink that takes over Fountain Square from November 2 through February 17. Admission is $10 which includes rental skates, and children ages 3 and under are free with a paid adult. Rink admission includes access to the WGU Warming Tent as a place to take a break and warm up. The rink also features a full-service concessions tent with hot and cold snacks, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, plus on-site parking, and restrooms. The rink is located in the heart of the Fountain District, which is home to dozens of bars and restaurants that allow you to turn your rink visit into an entire day or evening of fun.

Thursday’s Do: Light Up College Hill is a free Hamilton Avenue-wide holiday event happening on Thursday evening, 6-9pm. Activities include train rides, live reindeer, Santa, Santa’s workshop, a life-size snow globe, live performances, a scavenger hunt, and much more. The free event is complemented by events inside businesses along the avenue,
concluding with tree lighting in Patrick’s Park on Hamilton Avenue!

SIGN UP:

Registration opens on Saturday, Dec. 7 at noon for Wings of Wonder at Spring Grove’s Norman Chapel. The trainers from the Cincinnati Zoo will be there with 3-4 birds of a feather for an up-close, interactive program. Learn what unique stories and facts make these birds the stars of the Wings of Wonder. The event is free but requires reservations and these spots will go fast.

Clifton Cultural Arts is hosting a Stained Glass Workshop on December 14 and 18. In this fast-moving, immersive workshop, you will have an opportunity to select the glass, prepare a pattern, cut and fit glass, and then wrap and solder for a finished piece that can be hung suspended on its own or in a corner. Ages 14+. Advanced registration required.

Holiday Sweater Goat Yoga will be happening on December 22 at Fifty West Brewing (9am session still has open spots). The adorable goats from Good Green Earth Farm will be decked out in their finest holiday sweaters, and they’re ready to roam free and make your yoga session extra memorable. Tickets include one hour class, 30 minutes of goat play time, and a beverage ticket.

Mark your calendars for the return of Cincinnati Christkindlmarkt, opening Nov. 22. GOOD TO KNOW:

Great Parks has a Winter Hike Series that starts on January 11 and continues for five weeks, each taking place at a different park.

Take part in this annual series of challenging and educational hikes, ranging from four to 5.5 miles, with informative stops to explore the parks' natural history and unique features.

All hikes last about two hours and conclude with soup, cookies and camaraderie.

New this year: guests may select a themed winter hike experience (including Tree Hike, Bird Hike, Fast Hikes, Family Hike, Leisurely Hike, Standard Hikes) or opt for the standard winter hike.

Registration is required for each hike attended. You can choose to do the entire series or just one hike.

12/7: The 35th Annual Lebanon Horse Drawn Carriage Parade is happening at both 1pm and 7pm.

12/9: Crib of the Nativity, the live nativity scene that’s out in the lawn of the Krohn Conservatory, will be open and ready for visitors, 9am-9pm. Free.

12/15 and 12/16: Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of “White Christmas” on the big screen at local theaters as part of Fathom’s Big Screen Classics. Tickets now on sale.
