The Shillito Elves will be back for the holiday season!

The hard working elves (that originally adorned the windows of Shillito's department store*) will be on display at 1312 and 1324 Main Street from November 22 to January 5.

The display in the Main Street District will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the holiday season.

These jolly little elves will only be animated at the following times: Mon-Thurs: 11am-1pm and 4-8 pm, Friday - Sunday: 11am-8pm.

*What are the Shillito Elves??? For those of you who aren’t familiar, the elves made their debut back in the 1950’s as part of the Shillito window displays. Shillito’s was Cincinnati’s first department store.

Wednesday’s Do: Author Rob Lowe will discuss his book “To Coney With Love” at the Deer Park branch of the Cincinnati and Hamilton County Library from 2pm to 3pm. The author’s talk will be followed by a book signing.

Tickets are on sale now for the East Row Historic Foundation’s Annual Victorian Christmas Tour in Newport. Residents will be opening their spectacular historic homes to the public, just in time for the Christmas season. They will have 7 distinct homes scattered around the Historic District, each with a unique character sure to delight visitors. Tours will take place on Dec. 7 and 8, 12-6pm.

Spirits by Starlight Ghost Tours, the region’s only year-round immersive paranormal experience, takes place at Heritage Village Museum and they have openings for their January event. These sell out well in advance so be sure to book now if you’re interested! Would this make a good gift for someone on your list???

Sign up for Great Parks’ Outdoor Archery: Thanksgiving Edition, happening on November 23 starting at 10am. Join a USA Archery Instructor for their Basic Compound Bow program with a Thanksgiving twist. Archers will explore the basics of shooting a compound bow, the archery steps to success and take on a Thanksgiving-themed archery challenge. All equipment is provided.

The UC Health Ice Rink, presented by Fifth Third Bank is an outdoor ice rink that takes over Fountain Square from November 2 through February 17. Admission is $10 which includes rental skates, and children ages 3 and under are free with a paid adult. Click here for more info!

Discovery Pass is a program for Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library card holders**. Using their library card, customers can reserve a pass and get free admission to cultural institutions: museums, parks, and more.

The Discovery Pass offers library card holders the ability to reserve tickets for the following museums and attractions: American Sign Museum, Cincinnati Art Museum’s special exhibitions, Cincinnati Museum Center, Great Parks of Hamilton County, the Harriet Beecher Stowe House, and Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum.

11/16 and 11/17: It’s time for the annual Holiday Market at Cincinnati Art Museum, 11am-5pm. Shop from local artists and artisans at this weekend market. And the Art Museum Gift Shop will be stocked with unique art-inspired gifts. Shoppers will enjoy 10% off shop purchases and complimentary gift wrap is included (some exclusions apply).

11/16: Books by the Banks returns! Head to the Main Library (downtown branch) for this regional book festival, 10am-6pm.

11/19 to 12/1: Funny Girl is coming to the Aronoff Center, presented by Broadway in Cincinnati. Tickets now on sale.

12/1 and 12/15: Get ready for the Glenwood Reads Book Club! The book club will meet on both Dec. 1 and Dec. 15 (at 2pm) to discuss “A Paul Gruchow Reader Edited by Louis Martinelli”. This event takes place indoors. Participants are invited to bring treats to share.

12/7: The 35th Annual Lebanon Horse Drawn Carriage Parade is happening at both 1pm and 7pm.

12/7 and 12/8: City Flea will be at Factory 52 (Norwood) for their Holiday Market, 12-4pm both days. They’ll have 50+ vendors and will have new vendors each day. Shop local at this outdoor event.

12/9: Crib of the Nativity, the live nativity scene that’s out in the lawn of the Krohn Conservatory, will be open and ready for visitors, 9am-9pm. Free.

12/11: A Balloon Glow will be happening in Middletown starting at 7pm. Come out and watch some of Southwest Ohio's balloon pilots light up the night sky. Weather dependent.

12/15 and 12/16: Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of “White Christmas” on the big screen at local theaters as part of Fathom’s Big Screen Classics. Tickets now on sale.
