FRIDAY EVENTS 📆 

Half Price Books has their annual South Ohio Warehouse Sale on Friday and Saturday, 10am – 5pm. Friends of Music Hall present Silent Movies Made Musical with the Mighty Wurlitzer, Friday at 7pm. Tedde Gibson will be mastering the Albee Theatre Mighty Wurlitzer organ in the Music Hall Ballroom. Screening on April 12 are two favorites: Carmen Jr. (1923), a short comedy film, and Captain January (1924), based on an 1890 children’s novel about a lighthouse keeper and his adopted daughter. Shirley Temple later starred in a remake. Tickets required.

Cincinnati Musueum Center will have extended hours on April 12 for POMPEII: The Exhibition and the OMNIMAX® Theater this Friday. Get $3 off all tickets to the featured exhibition for this extended night with the first discounted entry time starting at 4:30 p.m. (and the last entry at 7:30pm). Of note: permanent exhibits will close at 5 p.m. as regularly scheduled.

SATURDAY EVENTS 📆 

Great Parks has a “Homesteading 101: Container Gardening” class happening at Parky’s Farm on Saturday (Winton Woods), 11am-noon. Explore the hows, whys, and benefits of starting your own container garden. Participants will receive a container and plant to take home with them. Registration required. Fishing for Beginners will take place at Lake Isabella on Saturday starting at 1pm. Learn the basics of fishing and/or improve your skills. They will have a limited number of fishing rods available on a first-come, first served basis. You are welcome to bring your own rod. Register in advance. The Nancy and David Wolf Holocaust and Humanity Center (located at Union Terminal) host “Little Acts, Big Impact: Mini Upstander Play Sessions at Union Terminal” in partnership with the Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati, Saturday at 10 a.m. This special event series features fun, games, and songs led by talented artists from the Children’s Theatre. Each session will focus on highlighting a specific character strength, fostering a positive and engaging environment for children. As an added bonus, families who attend the session will be offered free admission into Cincinnati Museum Center Children’s Museum for the day, extending the fun and learning beyond the event. Tickets are limited for this free event and you must register.

The 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings will take on the Cincinnati Buckeyes at Heritage Village Museum on Saturday, noon to 3pm.

Lloyd Library hosts “Walking with Wildflowers at Buttercup Valley“ on Saturday, 10-11:30am. Buttercup Valley Preserve is a 25-acre forest and home to numerous 100’ tall trees that are nearly 200 years old. Beneath these great beings lives an exquisite plant community of wildflowers. These flowers, collectively known as “Spring Ephemerals”, bloom briefly in the spring before going dormant again as they become shaded out in the summer and they require mature, undisturbed forests like Buttercup Valley to exist. Join Naturalist, Horticulturist, and former President of Northside Greenspace Inc., Greg Torres for a guided hike through this woods to learn more about this these unique flowers living in a very special forest. Meet at Park Woods Montessori School (4370 Beech Hill Ave.).

Deerfield Township is offering an E-Waste Recycling Event, Saturday, 8-11am at the Deerfield Towne Center (Regal Cinemas Parking Lot – they ask that you enter Polo Drive from Irwin-Simpson Road.). This event is for personal, household residences ONLY. No commercial or business waste. They have a long list of acceptable items and a list of items they won’t take (click the link above to view).

There’s a free Wildflower Walk (part of the Nature Encounters series) happening at Burnet Woods on Saturday, 1-2pm. With the recent volunteer led efforts to remove the invasive honeysuckle from the park – they are excited to see what more may be in bloom! From their early folklore to some of their more interesting reproductive strategies, you’ll learn about the fascinating world of these living jewels. Meet in front of the Trailside Nature Center.

Enjoy a free Spring Wildflower Hike along the Bender Mountain Trail on Saturday starting at 10am. Western Wildlife Corridor is offering a series of free guided wildflower walks at their preserves which have some of the most spectacular native Ohio wildflowers. You could see Cut-Leaved Toothwort, Sessile and Drooping Trillium, Wild Ginger, Woodland Poppy, Blue-Eyed Mary, Greek Valerian, Dutchman’s Breeches, Wild Hyacinth, Miami Mist, Fernleaf Phacelia, and many more. In addition to wildflowers, the native trees and shrubs will be leafing out among an abundance of wildlife. 

SUNDAY EVENTS📆 

Ladles Not Landfills: Presented by La Soupe will be at MadTree Brewing on Sunday, 4-6pm. Experience interactive stations with partners from Cincinnati Zoo, Cincinnati Museum Center, Hamilton County ReSource, and Gorman Heritage Farm. Savor rescued foods turned delicious by the La Soupe chefs who are filling ladles, not landfills.

Art on Vine will be at Rhinegeist Brewery, Sunday, noon-6pm. Shop from more than 80 artists at this monthly market.

There’s an Eagle Nest Watch happening at Winton Woods, Sunday, 4-6pm. This free drop-in event will allow you to (hopefully) observe the bald eagle pair as they nest for a second year at Winton Lake. Interpreters will be available to answer questions as well as give the history of the current breeding pair of eagles. Parking will be available at the disc golf course and guests can walk down to the Adventure Outpost boat launch for the best viewing opportunities. The Shriners Classic Chariots Cruise In will be at The Syrian Shrine on Sunday, 9730 Reading Road, 11am-4pm. Enjoy the cars and bikes, free UDF ice cream, DJ Bizzy Bizz, and more.

TOURS OFFERED THIS WEEKEND: 🚶‍♀️ 

Take a free Public Tour of the Cincinnati Art Museum, offered on Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm. No need to register – meet in the lobby.

Union Terminal Rotunda Tours are offered by Heritage Program docents at Cincinnati Museum Center on Fridays – Sundays. During a 45-minute tour of the 1933 train station, docents explain the architecture, construction and art of one of the finest examples of the Art Deco style. Hear details about the world-famous mosaic murals. These limited capacity public tours are first come, first served and will depend on availability. Tours are free; there is a charge to park.

Rookwood Pottery offers Behind the Scenes Tours of Rookwood on most Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets required. Double check with them about their tour times this weekend. They have another event going on that’s sold out and the times may be the same.
