Gorman Heritage Farm is hosting a “Bed Preparation and Soil Health Workshop” later this month. Get your garden ready and learn to "work the soil" using backyard-friendly, low-till methods for healthy structure, deep fertility & living soil for your garden. Jason Kamp, their Garden Educator, shares his knowledge of all things soil in an indoor talk, provides a guided tour of their very own garden production spaces, and leads a hands-on soil work & bed preparation demonstration out in the market garden. Great for both beginner and experienced gardeners. Registration required for this April 21 workshop.

GOOD TO KNOW ✔️

Learn all about what happens to your trash and recycling when you take a tour of the Rumpke landfill and/or the recycling centers.

I’ve taken the landfill tour and it’s a great one. Seriously.

The landfill tour includes a brief history of the company and an explanation of truck types. The bus then travels around the landfill while a trained guide shows guests what happens after garbage leaves their homes.

During a walking tour of the recycling facility, guests will learn about the technology used at their state-of-the-art facilities and see recyclables sorted and separated. The tour also includes an explanation of acceptable and unacceptable materials, an overview of Rumpke's recycling operations and an opportunity for questions.

COMING SOON 📆

From @americansignmuseum: Things got a little puzzling at the Museum last week as Tod and Sean Druley (the head carpenter of the new wing) put their jigsaw skills to the test as they laid out the Ward’s Bread mural sign to prepare it for installation. The sign came from Chicago and was carefully removed plank by plank with each clearly numbered to make it easier to reassemble at the Museum.
