Did you know you can take a Facility Tour at Rumpke?

At the urging of my father-in-law, I took the Landfill Tour and I was amazed by how good it was!

A tour bus will take you around the grounds and a trained guide explains what happens after garbage leaves our homes. Methane gas removal and recovery, leachate (waste water) collection, surface water controls and other points of interest, including recycling facts, are explained. The tour concludes with a description of standard landfill closure processes and future landfill property use.

Landfill Tours take place on Thursdays only, last about an hour, and they’re free. You must schedule well in advance - they recommend a two month window.

They also offer Recycling Tours (by appointment only). During a walking tour of the facility, guests will learn about the technology used at their state-of-the-art facilities and see recyclables sorted and separated. The tour also includes an explanation of acceptable and unacceptable materials, an overview of Rumpke's recycling operations, and an opportunity for questions.
