Sunday February 18

Hello Cincinnati!

We might be spending our Friday evenings at a Fish Fry…. but this week? Cincinnati chili is calling your name!

National Chili Day is February 22 (Thursday) and lots of local spots have deals that day. The Chili Day specials are usually announced during the week so be sure to watch for deals at Skyline, Gold Star Chili, etc.

Citybeat is jumping on the bandwagon and running Cincinnati Chili Week all week long (Feb. 19-25). Get $5-$7 chili deals from 17 different local restaurants.

Highlights For This Week:

Monday, Feb. 19: Hyde Park Library (temporary library location - 3764 Paxton) hosts an Adult Board Game Club, 7-10pm.

Tuesday, Feb. 20: Join other card playing enthusiasts at March First Brewing for Euchre Night, Tuesdays starting at 6:30pm. Free to play. They used to say you could come with or without a partner.

Wednesday, Feb. 21: Head to the MadTree Brewing to play some Pickleball! All levels are welcome to play in this indoor “arena”.

Thursday, Feb. 22: There’s a Mindfulness Walk in the Krohn Conservatory happening from 7pm to 8:30pm. This program, held against the backdrop of the Krohn Conservatory Spring Flower Exhibit, is designed after a Japanese-inspired practice called “Shinrin-Yoku” (translated as forest bathing or bathing in the healing elements of nature). The program includes a slow guided walk with a sequence of soothing, nature-based readings, moments of stillness and poetry. Registration required.

Mark Your Calendar:

Discover the joy of fishing with “Fishing for Beginners”, happening on the second Saturdays of March to September. The show will go on! Summerfair will be back at Coney Island again this year, May 31-June 2, 2024. Admission charged.

A Trojan goat, faux monks, adults in costume? It’s almost time for The Bockfest Parade! Head downtown for this Bockfest kickoff on Friday, March 1.

Photo of the Week:

It’s becoming one of my favorite spots to eat - The Gatherall at Factory 52. Located in Norwood (in the space that used to be the U.S. Playing Card Factory), this new-ish food hall offers up some great selections.

I do believe I have now sampled something from every single spot in The Gatherall (is that something I should admit?!). I hate to direct you to any one spot but so far my favorites are Gabriela's Chicken Adobo, Trophy Pizza’s (newly opened there) Grandma Pizza, the Roasted Squash and Asian Pear Salad from Melt, Braised Oxtail Nachos from Shango’s Urban Taqueria…. I could go on and on an on.

Try them out for yourself soon!
