Hello Cincinnati!

Who’s ready to herald in the month of March this week? Spring-like weather will be around for most of the week with highs around 60° most days with a few days close to 70°!

Highlights For This Week:

Monday, Feb. 26: It’s Game Night at The Gatherall. Woodburn Games will be there to set up some games and get the fun started as well as handing out some raffle prizes. The fun starts at 6pm.

Tuesday, Feb. 27: Take a free tour of Civic Garden Center’s Green Learning Station, 11am-noon. Join in for an informative, informal tour and have your sustainability questions answered by Mary Dudley, CGC’s Ecology Education Manager. CGC has rooftop gardens, a compost demonstration area, rainwater catchment systems and an indoor green wall, just to name a few of their current projects! No registration needed.

Wednesday, Feb. 28: Learn to toss like the pros as Braxton Brewing and Dewey's Pizza present Pizza School! Take a 30-minute instructional class inside the Braxton Brewery taproom with one of Dewey’s expert dough tossers. This hands-on class provides you with a whole tray of dough to learn with and step-by-step coaching! Tickets required.

Thursday, Feb. 29: The American Sign Museum hosts Battle of the Brands, 7-8pm. Which company has the most recognizable logo? The cutest mascot? Or the catchiest jingle? You decide! Explore the history and elements of branding in this interactive talk to decide which brand will come out on top. Tickets required.

A Trojan goat, faux monks, adults in costume? It’s almost time for The Bockfest Parade! Head downtown for this Bockfest kickoff on Friday, March 1.

Cincy Hikes has a March Book Club and Bender Mountain Hike event that for which you might want to prepare. Start the event off with a 2.5 mile hike at Bender Mountain to see what is blooming and then head down the road to 13 Below Brewery for their March book Club discussion. The book is Racing Winter on the Pacific Crest Trail by Kyle Rohrig. All are welcome to the hike or the book club discussion. The event takes place on March 20 starting at 5pm.

Great Parks invites you out to Miami Whitewater Forest to witness the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8. This community-wide gathering is located on the outskirts of Cincinnati at Miami Whitewater Forest – the only Great Park in the path of totality. A variety of educational stations, Citizen Science observations, animal encounters, food and more will be available during and after the totality (darkness) event, currently slated for 3:08 p.m. A limited supply of certified eclipse glasses (free of charge) will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Head to the Blue Ash Library for LEGO Building with LEGO Master Paul Wellington on March 16, 10:30am-12:30pm. All ages are welcome. Drop in anytime from 10:30-12:30. Registration is not required.

Cincinnati Magazine hosts their annual Best Restaurants event on March 11. Tickets required.

Paint and Sip at the Krohn Conservatory on March 15, 6-8pm. This adult only event includes painting a canvas in the Krohn Conservatory’s gardens as well as one adult beverage. Tickets required.

Falcon Theatre in Newport, KY, is partnering with Cincinnati Public Library to offer a play reading discussion group, similar to a book reading group. Plays will be chosen that delve into community issues and lived experiences to offer civic engagement. Copies of the play will be made available through the Cincinnati Public Library for advance reading. March 19 is the next installment - Falcon Theatre Presents: The Play’s the Thing and the play is Breaking the Code by Hugh Whitmore. This is a free event but registration is required.

Sign up for “Adding Herbs to Your Garden”, a class at the Delhi branch of the Cincinnati Public Library. Sue Vogt, from the Herb Society of Greater Cincinnati, will focus on the benefits of growing herbs – culinary and aromatic. Registration is required for this free class that takes place on March 21, 7-8pm.

Deals and Discounts:

March 3 is Hero Day at the Cincinnati Home and Garden Show. Active military, veterans, police, fire and first responders receive FREE admission to the show with valid ID on either Sunday.
