Sunday March 10

Hello Cincinnati!

The ides of March are upon us! As we roll into this time of “is it spring today or is it winter today”, I thought I’d share a few lists that you might find helpful for the change of seasons :).

Learn about the property research resources that are available through the Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library and other entities with the Genealogy and Local History Department. Registration required.

Wednesday, March 13: The Friends of the Public Library and Nine Giant are pairing up for Books and Booze, a boozy book fair at The Fermentorium, 5-8pm. Rediscover the magic of exploring a book fair in a whole new way (with drinks and the ability to set your own budget)!

Thursday, March 14: Stitch Social is happening at Fibonacci Brewing Co from 6-8pm. Whether you’re a seasoned stitcher or a novice looking to learn, all are welcome! Feel free to bring along your own stitching project, or if you’re keen to learn, they have yarn, crochet hooks, and knitting needles on hand.

Mark Your Calendar:

Woodburn Games is hosting a Geek Garage Sale, March 16 and 17. Sellers: Bring your clean and complete used games to the store anytime from opening (12:00 p.m.) on Sunday, March 10 through closing (8:00 p.m.) on Thursday, March 14. Buyers: Come in and shop for some great used games, simple! See site for all details.

Be sure to mark off at least a few Thursdays to enjoy Tunes and Blooms at the Cincinnati Zoo, happening on Thursday evenings in April. The Zoo is free for Tunes and Blooms (you will have to pay to park though). Each week features live bands set amongst the incredibly gorgeous spring blossoms at the Zoo. The entire zoo is not open for Tunes and Blooms but you will be able to walk around and see some the animals.

Telescope Fest is happening at Ault Park on March 23, 5-7pm. Join astronomer and eclipse expert Dean Regas as he and a dozen of his fellow stargazers show off their telescopes. Explore the many different telescope designs, ask questions with the experts, and see what equipment you can use to see and photograph astronomical events yourself. Weather permitting, there will also be safe solar viewing of sunspots and solar flares. It’ll be a perfect time to get you ready for the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse. This is a free event and no registration needed.

Photo of the Week:

I posted about cherry blossoms last week but that’s not the only one you should be looking for soon. We are on the cusp of magnolia trees blooming too! My favorite places for those are Ault Park and Eden Park (close to Krohn Conservatory).

I have not been out to see the cherry trees or the magnolias yet. They are likely to start blooming soon but I don’t know exactly when. I usually find pics on Instagram when the blooms begin.
