Sunday March 3
Hello Cincinnati!
Does this warm weather have you itching to start your spring cleaning?
If you end up with items you just don’t know what to do with, check out the handy lists and resources available via the Cincinnati Recycling and Reuse Hub.
You might also want to take a peek at the product donations they’ll accept at Matthew 25 Ministries.
Here are a few lists you might find handy this week:
Highlights For This Week:
Monday, March 4: The weather will be perfect for Cincy Hikes Urban Hike in Old Milford! This hike will explore the neighborhood that was born as a result of its proximity to the Little Miami River. This neighborhood was named for several mills located along the Little Miami River, and the shallow place along the river that allowed you to cross. Afterwards, come back to Little Miami Brewing for a bite to eat with your fellow hikers. The hike starts at 5:30pm. Free to hike but they do ask that you register.
Tuesday, March 5: Enjoy Game Night at the Krohn Conservatory. Your ticket includes admission to the spring show (The Shape of Nature featuring Oscillation), game play, as well as 2 pieces of pizza. Tuesday’s featured game is Azul Summer Pavilion. Tickets required.
Wednesday, March 6: For those of you who might enjoy a great round of trivia that’s NOT at a brewery, check out Trivia Wednesdays at Wyoming Community Coffee, 6:30-8:30pm.
Thursday, March 7: “Get Ready for the Eclipse” will be presented at the Middletown campus of Miami University. Reza Abrishambaf, associate professor of Engineering Technology and an astronomy enthusiast, will share a presentation on the upcoming total solar eclipse. Discover the science behind eclipses, learn how to view them safely, and where to find the best locations to see totality. He will also share some stunning images and videos of past eclipses and answer questions. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about this amazing natural wonder! Free solar eclipse viewing glasses, generously provided by Travel Butler County, are available for attendees at our solar eclipse talks on a first-come, first-served basis. The event starts at 7pm and is also available via Zoom.
Mark Your Calendar:
There’s a Spring Night Hike happening at Otto Armleder Memorial Park on Tuesday, March 5. This is a guided nature hike through the park. Look for owls, foxes, and the (hopefully) see moon’s reflection over the Little Miami River! This is a free hike and it starts at 6pm. Find the event on their calendar (link above) when you click on March 5.
You’ve probably heard of Pi Day (coming up on March 14) but have you heard of Mario Day? Celebrated by gaming enthusiasts around the world, MAR10 is Mario Day and the Covington branch of the Kenton County Library wants to help you celebrate. They’re hosting a Life-Size Mario Party on March 10, 2-4pm.
Head to the Blue Ash Library for LEGO Building with LEGO Master Paul Wellington on March 16, 10:30am-12:30pm. All ages are welcome. Drop in anytime from 10:30-12:30. Registration is not required.

Keep an eye on the Opera Raps page and find great opportunities to experience the Cincinnati Opera on the cheap (most/all are free). As of the time of this writing, Violetta’s Chosen Family still has openings. This is a preview production of Giuseppe Verdi’s La Taviata. This event is on April 17 at the First Lutheran Church on Race Street, downtown. Free admission but reservations are required.
Cincinnati Observatory hosts “Family Astronomy Night - Pi Day” on March 14. Geared for families with children 5-12 years old, Family Astronomy Night will include viewing through a telescope (if clear), a tour of the Observatory, and a hands-on space activity or craft. Registration required.
Deals and Discounts:
Get free admission at Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park on March 9 in honor of Founder’s Day, a day to celebrate Pyramid Hill’s founder, Harry T. Wilks, and all of their supporters.
This is the last week for Penguin Days at the Cincinnati Zoo.
Head to the Cincinnati Art Museum on Saturday morning (March 9) for Meditate with Art. Join this artful meditation practice and connect with your inner peace. Visitors will meet on the yellow couches in the Schmiddlapp Gallery and will then be guided to a gallery where the meditative experience will take place.
Date Night Idea:
Have some fun with Line Dancing Lessons at Lori’s Roadhouse on Tuesdays, 7-9pm. Make a night of it when you enjoy their Tuesday Happy Hour from 4-6pm. They accept dinner reservations as well. Looks like they might have a cover charge starting at 7pm so keep that in mind when you’re heading out.

Photo of the Week:
Be on the lookout for cherry blossoms soon! The date range is weather dependent but I’m going to bet it will be on the early side this year. The photo below was taken at Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum in mid-March (years ago).
NOTE: They are not blooming YET.
